For this film festival campaign it was all What’s My Motivation?

Ever watched someone watching a movie?  No?  Well here’s what it looks like —

For the Heartland Film Festival’s 2012 campaign, art director Brian Gray of Miles Design wanted to show the range of emotions a person goes through when watching a film — surprise, sadness, shock, joy, irritation (wait, sorry, that last one’s what you feel when someone’s cellphone won’t stop ringing during the movie) — so we put our subjects in theater seats and made them go through the feelings, one at a time:

Now sadness!  No, not something smells funny, sadness!  Now, happy!  Happy, damn you!

Fun times for everyone.

Our apologies and thanks to the models, who gamely agreed to emote on command, and thanks to makeup stylist Heather Williams for her expertise in tears.
